This game has to be the ONLY point and click game I've ever enjoyed. All the solutions made sense, things were CLEARLY seen, and there was no confusion about how to solve something; if you had the right materials, it just clicked in your mind.

The story is pretty simple too.

Get your body back before midnight.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of the backtracking and was about to rate this game 4 stars, but thanks to hilarious game over text and the comedic "Haven't we done this before?" dialogue with everyone, backtracking became very tolerable. I realize that the backtracking is a crucial part of the game so you can understand your mistakes and improve on them with better time.

Speaking of time, this game does handles the time mechanic very well. As aforementioned, the goal is to get your body back from the "Black Wizard" before the clock strikes midnight. This is done very well. There are multiple solutions to the problems presented in this game (another reason why this is the best P'N'C game ever). I'll give you an example:

The first obstacle in the game:
You're in a prison cell. The guard promises to let you out early if you clean up. There's also a mop in the cell. Along with a bucket with some water. My first guess was to (obviously) clean up the cell to get out. But as I replayed it to get some necessary items for the future, I realized that I could conserve time by digging my way out of the prison cell.

Obviously, there's always an optimal path. As this game is focused around conserving time, there will always be a "better way" to do things. So make sure to observe and take advantage of the items at your disposal.

You can find a WALKTHROUGH option at the top of your logbook menu, but it's really not needed until like, two parts in the game. I only needed it at the finale.

Overall, I frigging love this game. The medieval setting and funny deja-vu commentary with the characters really bring this game to life. I can't stress enough how this game should be presented with golden trumpets and a heavenly light shining down on it, but yeah... It's great.

I give it a perfect score. I love you, too, Rete.

Let's get serious...

DEM PIXELS.

This is my main gripe (and really the only problem in this game) because of how long it takes to notice something thanks to the smudgy and ambiguous scenery. The pixel style wouldn't be such a big problem if you hadn't required the player to locate horridly small things like keys and the like.

Here's the thing: You've already started the series, so if you ditch this style at this point; it'd look really bad and inconsistent. Sooo, for future reference, don't have the player's objective be to allocate a minuscule object. It makes it really easy to overlook something.

I was going to give this game a 2-star rating, simply because of that small gripe. But I realized how trivial that is and that I should stop being so childish. Because, when it comes down to it-- This game is pretty solid. There's just major problems with the style you chose.

Mate. Mate, mate, mate.....

Have you considered making a "lite" version? You and I both know this project is way too big for Newgrounds. Try making some type of demo on Newgrounds, then post a link to a download page. Otherwise, you'll just get more 0-star ratings on your game for no reason. Just consider it, eh?

skullduggerystudios responds:

I'm almost done with the lite version, just have 2 more levels to finish remaking then I can upload it later on tonight =D

I find this to be highly offensive to my kind.

If there's one thing people have learned by now, it's that a platformer never gets boring. Thanks to the simple controls (I love that you didn't use the spacebar), it's really easy to focus on the visuals. And because I paid so much attention to them, you tend to notice a lot of things. Like DarkestSamus said below me, it really doesn't feel like it's "trying" to be an art game, it just kind of is.
Probably the most eye-catching thing about the game's scenery is the main character. His color and design is incredibly ostentatious when compared to the background visuals, making it easy to identify him on screen. Actually, his design is probably what kept this game from feeling tired and pretentious. I like the fact that you didn't just slap a stick figure in your game and call it "artistic." Unlike a certain number of games on Newgrounds.
If someone were to ask me to compare this game to another game on Newgrounds. I'd compare it to Mind Fcuk. Though I get the feeling you didn't know what you were doing with the level design in the beginning (like you were just stringing together a set of levels just to procrastinate for the sake of it). Overall, it's a great game and I like what you did. Good job! Give yourself a pat on the back! As for me, I'll be taking a break from the computer today. I'm going to be cramming a 10hr session of Mega Man X. Wish me luck.

Is it wrong for me to choose Katawa Shoujo Lite over the original?

THIS IS THE BEST GAEM IN TEH WHOLE SERIES!!!!!!111!!!!!11eleven!!!11!!

Since this is supposed to be a RPG with constant battles, I must say, this is pretty good. The only reason I deducted .5 from the score is because you CANNOT LOAD UP YOUR GAME AFTER DEATH. I imagine you fixed that in one of the sequels, but if the fix is nowhere to be found, then that's... bad. Really bad. It took me an hour to get to the boss I was on. An hour with no saves? I don't think so.

Another thing: It took a lot from me trying to resist taking away another star from the score just because of rage.

It's a simple game that could last for hours. However, I can't shake the feeling that this could be better suited for handheld devices.

Fullzop responds:

I don't want to develop on handheld devices for now, it requires high competences in development that I really don't have. I used TGF2 because almost everything is visual, so there's only commands to master, not hundreds of lines just for one movement.

A few problems kinda keep this game from being really good:

One, the steering. In a game where you must park with accuracy, the controls must be accurate, too. Quite frankly, the WASD/Arrow Keys setup is bad. Really bad. I couldn't help but think "How would this game be with an on-screen wheel that we steer with the mouse?" Think about it.

Two, the cars. This is really minor, but the cars just don't stop. Seriously, it's like super-persistent and stubborn robots are driving the cars. They don't even care if you're in front of them or not. Assuming they're the "challenge", they are... A really bad way of making your game harder. How about this?: Make it so that they stop when confronted with you, and so that the game ends immediately when you crash. Simple.

Overall, it was a fun game.

You know, if you want some, there's some candy left over in my van.
